Award-winning housebuilder Deanfield Homes has officially broken ground at Clementine Gardens, its latest development of new homes in the Oxfordshire market town of Charlbury.

Clementine Gardens will comprise 26 carefully designed two, three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes, combining traditional Cotswold architecture with the quality craftsmanship and contemporary features for which Deanfield Homes is renowned.

Marking the start of construction, Kirsten Cook, Commercial Manager, and Jason Thacker, Contracts Manager, visited the Conlon construction team on site to mark the beginning of work on the development.

Adding a distinctive touch, each home at Clementine Gardens will be named after a different rose. The idea draws inspiration from Clementine Churchill, wife of Sir Winston Churchill, who spent time with him at nearby Ditchley Park during the Second World War. She was also well known for her love of roses and gardens.

Renowned for building well-crafted homes in carefully selected locations, Deanfield Homes has designed Clementine Gardens to complement Charlbury’s distinctive character while providing spacious, modern homes suited to contemporary lifestyles.

Interiors will be thoughtfully planned to maximise natural light, with open-plan kitchen and dining areas forming the heart of each home. Kitchens will feature premium appliances, while high-quality finishes and generous layouts will provide flexible spaces for modern family life.

Sustainability is also a key consideration, with homes incorporating air source heat pumps and high-performance thermal glazing to improve energy efficiency and help create comfortable living environments throughout the year.

Kirsten Cook commented: “It’s fantastic to see work getting underway at Clementine Gardens and to start bringing our vision for this stunning development to life. The whole team is looking forward to seeing these unique homes take shape and creating a wonderful new place to live in Charlbury in 2027.”

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Deanfield Homes, said: “The name Clementine Gardens pays tribute to an interesting connection with the local area, while the homes’ traditional exteriors have been carefully designed to sit harmoniously within Charlbury’s established architectural character.

“Charlbury is a wonderful location, and we look forward to creating 26 beautiful new homes that reflect the character of this historic market town while offering the benefits of modern, energy-efficient living.”

Charlbury is a beautiful Cotswold town that captures the charm and character of traditional Cotswold living. Its vibrant centre is home to a wonderful choice of places to eat, including the Michelin-starred Bull, alongside welcoming cafés and independent shops.

A post office, medical centre and a range of everyday amenities add to the town’s appeal, combining convenience with an exceptional setting.

A show home at Clementine Gardens is expected to be ready to view in spring 2027.
