The ‘Watt a Save’ report published this week, also revealed that 85% of new builds have an A or B EPC rating, while just 4% of older properties achieve the same standards.

With modern building techniques, new properties are proven to use far less energy than older homes, emitting just 1.4 tonnes of carbon a year, compared to 3.6 tonnes from existing properties.
