The village of Sibford Ferris, standing on a hilltop surrounded by Oxfordshire countryside, has long been an oasis for those looking for a more relaxed pace of life. In the area surrounding Deanfield Heights there are several regional breweries and distilleries for locals to sample. Nearby  is the traditional and award winning Victorian Hook Norton Brewery where visitors can learn about the long history of the brewery, which started operating commercially in 1856.

Also in the area is the Cotswold Distillery, which is one of only a few that produces both English whisky and gin. Working to emphasise the rich agriculture of the Cotswolds, all barley is grown nearby on the Blenheim Estate and local fruits and grains make up the flavour profiles used in the spirits.

Luxuriate at Soho Farmhouse

The venue also hosts a cookery school, inspired by what’s in season and growing well on the farm. Daylesford Farm is the perfect place to take visiting friends and family who want to experience a real taste of the Cotswolds.

Step back in time at Broughton Castle

Broughton Castle is one of only 20 homes awarded five stars in Simon Jenkins’ England’s Thousand Best Houses. Just a ten-minute drive from Sibford Ferris, the 14^th century castle was the centre of the opposition to Charles I. Visitors can explore the rich history, both within the castle itself and throughout the beautiful gardens.

This summer, Broughton Castle is providing the backdrop for a performance of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, where audiences will be transported to the magical Athenian forest.

Enjoy a spot of retail therapy

The Lanes of nearby Banbury are packed with independent retailers offering a range of goods and services from local artwork to artisan food and drink. The streets of the old town are often lined with stalls from local businesses, making the choice to shop local an easy and inviting one.

Banbury is located just over seven miles from Sibford Ferris and trains from the main line station run to Oxford in around 18 minutes and to London Marylebone in just over an hour.  There is also regular bus route (line 75) servicing The Sibfords and Banbury, as well as connecting to nearby Stratford-upon-Avon.
