July 2021: Deanfield Homes is celebrating the completion of Deanfield Grange in the Cotswold village of Shipton-under-Wychwood. From a set of clever computer-generated images to real life, it has been an amazing process to watch this new community come to fruition over the past two years.

The 44 new one- to five-bedroom homes are now sold or occupied via our partnership with Cottsway Housing, with the development’s residents happily settled in and enjoying this semi-rural location in the Evenlode Valley.

Deanfield Grange has been a spectacular hit with home movers at all different stages in their lives, with the Government’s Help to Buy initiative available on a number of the plots for added appeal. From growing families who were drawn to the development for its position adjacent to the well-respected village primary school, to empty nesters looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle after their children had flown the nest, the new Deanfield Grange neighbourhood is an organic mix of people all revelling in the picturesque surroundings.

A fair share of the purchasers used Deanfield Grange to make their ‘escape to the Oxfordshire countryside’ dream a reality, with the sales team facilitating site visits, viewings and move ins, even during the 16 months of difficult lockdown circumstances.

Deanfield Grange has delivered a number of highlights over the course of its construction. We created one of our most well-received show homes ever in Plot 1, The Elstow – a house design that also won plaudits in the 2020 Evening Standard New Homes Awards, where it received a Highly Commended Award in the ‘Best Family Home’ category.

Deanfield Grange also gave us the opportunity to deepen our links with the local community. We enjoyed working with Wychwood Church of England Primary School and the Parish Council to make two major improvements: the creation of a safe, student drop-off area for those travelling by car, and a new path from the school to the pupils’ forest lessons – a route that allows them to avoid narrow pavements and main roads. Deanfield Homes also donated a ‘buddy bench’ to the school playground.

Additional legacies at the development include improved biodiversity, thanks to a number of ecologist-led improvements (including wildlife corridors, the preservation of natural habitats, and newly-installed bird and bat boxes), as well as the commissioning of an art installation from local sculptor Christopher Townsend. Deanfield Homes’ financial contributions are also being used to enhance local sport and recreation facilities, play areas, the library and public transport.

As one marketing suite closes its doors and a new community successfully starts to establish itself, Deanfield Homes moves on to a new location. With Deanfield Place in Cholsey and Deanfield View in Cholsey also both fully reserved, Deanfield Park in Ickford is the next collection of new homes the housebuilder has built – with 66 new properties due for release in early 2022. Interested parties can join the waiting list for launch details and off plan opportunities.
