It’s all about location, location, location for downsizers
Location is still without doubt one of the most important factors when choosing a new home, and this is no exception for retired couple John and Bev Robson who have recently moved into their new home at Deanfield Grange, Shipton-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire.
John and Bev had been living in a seven bedroom home near Worcester for 14 years and with their children now grown up and moved away, they felt it was an ideal time to make a change and downsize.
John comments, “We really liked where we lived but with the children moved out, the upkeep of the house was starting to get too much, and we really didn’t need all the space. We had been looking for about two years at various areas in the Cotswolds; one of our daughters now has four year old twin boys and we spend two days a week looking after them which means a long journey back and forth to Banbury.
“We have only ever lived in a brand new home, so we had our hearts set on finding another one and with our son in Southmoor we felt the Cotswolds was an ideal location.
“After looking at a number of developments by larger housebuilders which we felt lacked character, we continued to drive around the area exploring and researching the best locations. Then one afternoon we came across Deanfield Homes’ new development in Shipton-Under-Wychwood and decided to look further.”
Bev continues, “We were instantly taken with the village location, in the heart of the sought after village and we loved the fact that you could walk to the pub and shop and be surrounded by lovely countryside. Being a small development, we were also really impressed with the way it was laid out and the character of the homes using traditional Cotswold stone.
“As we hadn’t sold our existing home yet, we expressed our interest but had to wait. Fortunately, we managed to secure a buyer quite quickly after and the very second it was confirmed we made another visit to Deanfield Grange where we looked at the development in more detail and were delighted to be able to reserve a four bedroom detached Farleigh home.
“Buying a new home is always considered to be really stressful, but the team at Deanfield Homes were so helpful. We had a long chain and they kept in touch, chasing for updates from solicitors within the chain to help make the process as easy as possible.
“With natural delays due to Covid, we made the decision to go ahead with the sale of our existing home and moved into our son and then daughter’s homes before being able to move into Deanfield Grange.”
Bev continues, “It’s great to be finally in and the home is just perfect, living up to everything we had before in our old home. The quality of the build is extremely high, and we love the look and design. I just love new build homes and how they move on with their design and technology, along with everything being brand new. We couldn’t be happier.”
John concludes, “We have been so impressed with the service we have received and the quality of our new home that we have already recommended our son and future daughter-in-law to look at a future Deanfield Homes development.”
