After living in the Middle East, we wanted the English way of life

April 2021: Debbie Marshall (44) lived in Dubai for nearly 15 years with her two teenage children, Thomas (15) and Georgia (13) after relocating there before the children were born. When the three of them decided to move back to the UK to continue the children’s education, Debbie was left with the decision of where to bring up her family.

Debbie comments, “We wanted to relocate somewhere which had excellent schools for Thomas and Georgia, so I did extensive research looking at different areas. We had previously lived in Surrey, but I decided that the Cotswolds offered us something special in terms of schools and also plenty of English countryside which we had craved in Dubai. So we found a property to rent in 2019, before making the decision to buy a home.

“With the children settled at school, I started looking around the area. We were already renting in Churchill, close to Kingham Hill School and really liked the area and didn’t want to travel too far to and from school. I had started working at the school as a Registrar.

“Initially I thought about buying a property which needed work doing to it and creating myself a project, but the second-hand market was very limited. Then one day I was passing Deanfield Homes’ new development in Shipton-Under-Wychwood and thought it was worth taking a look.

“I really liked the position of the development in the centre of the village, which made it feel like it was already part of the community. As soon as I walked into the development, it had a really lovely feel about it and I was particularly impressed with the mix of homes, offering different styles and choices.

“Jackie, the sales advisor was really warm and welcoming and answered all my questions and showed me around the development and the properties that were still available. She was not pushy at all and gave me the time and space I needed to decide what to do.

“The quality of the homes really appealed to me. I had previously lived in a new build home so had good experience and my sister and brother-in-law also work in the industry so I was confident looking around that Deanfield Homes was an excellent choice.”

Debbie reserved a five bedroom detached Gosford in January 2020 and they moved into their new home at the start of January 2021.

She continues, “The location is perfect and it just ticks all the boxes. There is everything you need in the village and I really like the fact that there is a train station so the children will easily be able to get into Oxford when they are older.

“The home is such a beautiful space and has everything I wanted in a family home. I love to cook and so the kitchen/breakfast/family room is a really sociable space in the centre of the house and there is enough space for us to spend time individually but also come together as a family. The office has been ideal while working from home, but can also double up as a room for Thomas to play on his PS.

“Deanfield Homes have been excellent throughout the whole process and made our move so easy. They answered all the queries I had and were happy for us to come and look around when we were able to due to restrictions. I would highly recommend them.”

Located on the edge of the sought-after Cotswolds village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, features a stunning collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom family homes, built using local materials to create attractive street scenes. All the homes are now sold.

Deanfield Homes launched its show home at its latest development, Deanfield Place at the start of March, in Cholsey, Oxfordshire where just one four bedroom home remains available. Deanfield Place features a collection of sixteen quality, two, three and four bedroom homes which are ideal for young families, first time buyers and downsizers alike.

In Marsh Gibbon in Buckinghamshire, work is underway at Deanfield View which will feature 10 new homes as well as a brand new village shop to serve the local community. Deanfield View sits in the heart of the picturesque village of Marsh Gibbon, which is approximately four miles east of Bicester and 11 miles north west of Aylesbury. Register your interest today. The homes will be ready for occupation in Autumn 2021.

“We immediately fell in love with the home, particularly the layout of the rooms, with the spacious kitchen diner, which is the heart of the home and really suits our lifestyle with two small children; its where we spend most of our time. Each room is also a generous size and you can spend time together as a family or have other rooms to escape to if you need to. The study has also been just perfect with my husband needing to work from home.”

“We have been really impressed with the service we have received from Deanfield Homes. The whole moving process was really smooth and quick and they were really responsive and friendly. You can tell that a lot of thought and attention to detail has gone into the development, from the location, which is gorgeous, through to little things such as including an additional path that they thought we might need and changing the fence as they felt a different one would work better for us. We would highly recommend anyone buying a
home from Deanfield Homes.”

March 2021: Finding the perfect home that suits you both can sometimes be a challenge. One of you may be looking for a more traditional, older property, whilst the other wants something that is lower maintenance and easy to look after.

For Neil (59) and Valerie (53) Shortman, finding their forever home as a married couple was really important. Valerie explains, “I moved from Washington to London nine years ago to open an office for the communications company I was working for and met Neil, who worked for one of the clients. I eventually moved into his home near Uxbridge, but we knew we both wanted to work towards getting a home of our own when Neil retired.

“I really liked the older, more established style of home, whilst Neil preferred a new build which would mean less work needed to be done to it. Neil retired four years ago and after deciding to leave my role two years ago, we felt it was time to start looking but hadn’t made a lot of progress.”

Neil continues, “We were keen to move to the countryside and had been looking at properties further out of London towards Oxford, but the prices were quite steep for what you got. On the first weekend of launch we came across an advert for Deanfield Grange in Shipton Under Wychwood. It was a little bit further out than we were looking at but on a whim we decided to drive out and see what it was like..”

Valerie carries on the story, “As soon as we walked into the marketing suite, we received such a wonderful and professional greeting from Sarah and started to feel that may be this wasn’t a wasted journey. She spent time with us answering all our questions and showing us around the beautiful show home.

“When we got in the car to leave, we both looked at each other and said – it feels like this is where we are meant to be. Even though we had different tastes in what we were looking for in a home, Deanfield Grange just ticked all the boxes.. It was the first house we had actually gone to look at, but we knew it was the right one.

“We particularly liked the small development and how well the layout of the homes had been designed with the traditional Cotswold look but all the benefits of a new home. Inside the show home we could tell it was finished to a high standard with Bosch appliances included and built in wardrobes, and attention to detail throughout in the quality of the workmanship.”

The Shortmans reserved a four-bedroom detached Dunsmore at Deanfield Grange in late 2019.

“As we reserved off plan, we were able to make a few changes within the house which Deanfield Homes were so accommodating with,” said Neil. “We loved the kitchen and the south facing garden, but really wanted to open up the ground floor of the home even further, so they were able to take some of the wall between the dining room and living room out to allow the light to flow through to the front of the house.

“We were expecting to move into our new home in August 2020 but then Covid hit and understandably everything was delayed. It was a stressful time as we had to delay our buyers, and eventually we made the decision to move into a cottage for a month, so our sale didn’t fall through.

“Deanfield Homes were so helpful and kept us up to date throughout.  We very much enjoyed working with our Deanfield contact Annette and the Site Manager Mark. nothing was ever too much trouble and they always followed through on everything we threw their way with patience and professionalism. They were just as interested as we were in making sure we had the house we wanted and have continued to support us after moving in. We visited when we were allowed to during the build and   got the keys to our new home just before Christmas.”

“We walked in and just thought wow!” Valerie continues. “When you walk around a shell of a house it is hard to sometimes envisage it, but it felt amazing and the garden was bigger than we originally thought. We just love it. We can’t wait to explore the village and surrounding area further with our two dogs, Logan and Natasha and get to know our neighbours.”

Located on the edge of the sought-after Cotswolds village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, features a stunning collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom family homes, built using local materials to create attractive street scenes. All the homes are now sold.

Deanfield Homes has just launched its show home at its latest development, Deanfield Place at the start of March, in Cholsey, Oxfordshire. With 80% already reserved off plan ahead of the opening, Deanfield Place features a collection of sixteen quality, two, three and four bedroom homes which are ideal for young families, first time buyers and downsizers alike. The new Government Help to Buy scheme will also be available on specific plots, subject to Ts and Cs.

Virtual tours and Facetime helped us buy our new home

November 2020: With the Cotswolds in the top five of the UK’s lockdown rural hotspots, according to Zoopla, it’s no surprise that Deanfield Homes has seen a surge in demand for the new homes at its Shipton-Under-Wychwood development, Deanfield Grange.

For one couple, Deanfield Grange has ticked all the boxes when looking for a new home to downsize to. IT recruitment consultant, Warren (53) and his wife Vicky (50) Jupp lived in a four bedroom detached home in Chislehurst, Kent for 22 years but were looking to downsize a bit and spend more time with Vicky’s parents in Spain.

Warren explains, “We love the Cotswolds and have spent much time travelling around it in our motorhome with our two Westie dogs, Monty and Lola. With Vicky’s parents living in Spain, we decided we wanted to spend more time visiting them and move to a smaller home so started looking around visiting a number of new build developments in the area until we came across Deanfield Grange.

“We really liked the fact that it was a smaller development and loved that they were built using Cotswold stone. Jaqui, the sales advisor showed us around the development and we were impressed with the layout and quality of the homes and were definitely interested. Unfortunately we missed out on the three bedroom semi-detached which we were disappointed with, but with lockdown we decided to wait and see what happened.

“A few months later and restrictions starting to be lifted, we received a call to say the sale had fallen through on the Claydon, a four bedroom detached home, which was in our price range and were we still interested?”

Vicky continues, “I was in Spain visiting my parents when Warren got the call and I was keen we didn’t miss out so Warren took a trip to the development. He facetimed me and showed me around the house and straight away I got the feeling that it was our home. Deanfield Homes also produced some virtual tours of the home, which initially I thought you wouldn’t get a feel, but as soon as I watched it I could imagine myself living there. Warren put a deposit on the house there and then without me even stepping foot into it!”

Warren takes up the story. “Our house was still on the market, so we agreed that Vicky would stay an extra two weeks in Spain to avoid having to quarantine for two weeks in our house and stop people viewing and I would get the house sold. It all worked like clockwork.

“Deanfield Homes were so helpful during the buying process. We haven’t moved home for 22 years and last time it was just after we had got married and I remember it being such a stressful time. This time round we have been so lucky as it was only ourselves and our buyers and the process was so quick and painless. We used a local solicitor who was really experienced working with Deanfield Homes and the team were superb keeping us up to date throughout the whole process. We still have a four bedroom home but have downsized by about 25% in square footage.”

Vicky comments, “We have only been in the house for a week but it already feels like home and we are so pleased. The quality of the finish is exceptional and I love the kitchen/dining room as it suits our lifestyle as we never use a separate dining room. There is also a lovely landscaped garden which won’t be too much work to look after.

“The village is also perfect with several pubs, a village shop, lots of walks for our dogs and everything seems to be just five or six miles away. We are so happy we made the move.”

Located on the edge of the sought after Cotswolds village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, features a stunning collection of three, four and five bedroom family homes, built using local materials to create attractive street scenes.

Shipton-Under-Wychwood benefits from a highly regarded primary school, tennis club, a convenience store with Post Office and two pubs, The Wychwood Inn and The Shaven Crown, the latter of which overlooks the village green and was once a guest house run by monks.

The village is located on the A361 between Chipping Norton and Burford, the M40 and the A44 run to the east of the village, with the A40 to the south. There are also good national rail connections which can be accessed from Shipton, Ascott-under-Wychwood and Kingham train stations and are serviced by Great Western Railways. Shipton station, which is an 18 minute walk from Deanfield Grange, offers direct services to Oxford, Reading and London Paddington, with the latter less than 90 minutes in journey time.

Wychwood Wild Garden is one of the village’s real highlights, a centuries old garden and woodland spanning 12.5 acres, where waterfalls, ponds and ancient trees support a variety of wildlife and provide a tranquil spot for contemplation.

Our new home is perfect for our growing family

Testimonials

May 28, 2020In Testimonials5 Minutes

May 2020: After the arrival of their youngest son Joe, Alistair and Emma decided it was time to look at moving to a larger home to raise their two sons. The family had lived in the north Oxfordshire village of Duns Tew for over ten years, and were really settled with many friends, and their son Jack, aged nine, attended a nearby primary school.

But with two growing boys they really wanted a larger garden for them to run around and play football in and a fourth bedroom was on the wish list. The couple viewed a number of second hand and new build properties locally and were fortunate when first time buyers made an offer on their home.

Alistair explains, “We had looked at a number of properties and decided we liked one in Steeple Aston. Our offer was accepted and with an offer on our existing property we started the ball rolling to move home. Then one day the sellers changed their mind and we lost the property. With Brexit and the uncertainty in the housing market it made us slightly nervous that we could run the risk of losing our buyers if we didn’t find an alternative property quickly.

“Emma and I looked into the options and had become aware of a small new development in Tackley by Deanfield Homes. Although it was at the top of our budget, a new build property was really appealing to us as it is totally brand new, no-one else has lived in it before and there is no uncertainty with a chain and someone pulling out.

“We visited Deanfield Grove one weekend and immediately fell in love with it. The house has a lovely landscaped garden to the front and back and is a great size for the boys to enjoy and the house offered four generously sized bedrooms. We also really liked the feel of the village with its community shop and children’s playground nearby.”

Alistair and Emma purchased a four bedroom Fyfield at Deanfield Grove.

Alistair continues, “We were fortunate to move in before the Covid-19 lockdown so we have been able to really enjoy our new home. The garden has made such a difference for us all and there is a lovely patio area to sit out on and enjoy the view of the hills in the distance. There is also an extra playroom for the boys to have fun and chill out in.

“We were so impressed with the customer service we received from Deanfield Homes and Savills. Before lockdown, Sarah from Savills took us on a little tour of the development and introduced us to a few of our neighbours. We are really looking forward to being able to get to know everyone and for the boys to make new friends and play out together. It already feels like home here.”

All the homes are now sold at Deanfield Grove, Tackley. Deanfield Homes  is currently marketing Deanfield Grange in the sought after Cotswold village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood. It features a stunning collection of three, four and five bedroom family homes, built using local materials to create attractive street scenes on the edge of the sought after village and already over 50% of the homes are reserved or sold.

Each property is built to a quality specification with a professionally designed kitchen, Bosch appliances, built-in wardrobes to select bedrooms, contemporary bathroom suites and a host of energy saving measures for low running costs.

Help to Buy is also available at Deanfield Grange. Prices range from £399,000 to £825,000 at Deanfield Grange.

May 2020: Ariane and Matt Grimshaw (37) had been living in rented accommodation in Minster Lovell, near Witney, Oxfordshire with their three daughters but were really keen to get on the property ladder and buy a home for their growing family.

The couple had previously looked at several properties but at the time were unable to get a mortgage. When a change of circumstances meant they were able to proceed with a new search, the family were quick to look at several new developments, including Deanfield Homes latest development, Deanfield Grange in Shipton-Under-Wychwood.

Ariane explains, “As soon as we knew we were in a position to start our property search again we looked at a number of new build developments in the area. We were keen on new build as they offered the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, making the property more achievable. Having looked at several developments, we were really impressed when we visited Deanfield Grange.

“Immediately we knew the quality of the build was better than others we had previously seen and after viewing the show home, loved the way the house was designed internally and the generous size of each room.”

Ariane and Matt purchased a four bedroom detached Dunsmore at Deanfield Grange with impressive kitchen/dining/family room, separate utility room and landscaped front garden.

Ariane continues, “Deanfield Homes and the team at Savills were so accommodating and helped us through the process. Both Matt and I were keen not to buy from a larger housebuilder and really got the personal touch from Deanfield Homes, moving a wall back for us and lowering the plug sockets.

“We were about to complete on our property when the Coronavirus pandemic broke but Deanfield Homes and Savills were incredibly helpful and efficient and got us through this difficult time. They went above and beyond to get us moved into our home in time and nothing was too much trouble for them. We can’t thank them enough.

“We are so impressed with the quality of the home and features like the oak doors and the team at Deanfield Homes have really looked after us. The site manager even came to check we were all OK after moving in and made sure we could work everything.

“With home-schooling and working from home, because of lockdown, the house has proved it works for us. Matt has been running his management consultancy from home and we have all been able to be in the house at the same time and not disturb him working. The house feels so spacious even with all our furniture in it and the girls are loving the fact that they have their own bedrooms. We feel very fortunate.

“Once lockdown is over, the location is also really great for us as I am able to get to Witney where I teach gymnastics and Matt can travel a couple of days a week to London which is easily accessible for him.”

We waited for our dream home to come along

Testimonials

May 2020: Jo and Graham Benfield had been living in rented accommodation in Shipton-Under-Wychwood for several years, waiting for their dream home to come along. The couple, who have two sons, Rory, age eight and Quinn, age two were keen to stay in the village where Graham himself had been raised just down the road.

Jo explains, “We have always loved the area, it’s great being in the countryside but still having local amenities.  Rory attends the local primary school and Graham and I both have friends and family living locally, so when it was first announced that Deanfield Homes were building a new development in the village I was keen to find out more.

“I contacted Savills in the summer of 2018 and eagerly searched for further information. We hadn’t looked at any other homes before but the thought of a new build home in the village really appealed. Over the next 18 months I visited Deanfield Homes’ developments in Ducklington and Tackley and was really impressed with the quality and attention to detail.

“As soon as we could we were the first to reserve at Deanfield Grange using Help to Buy. The process was really straight forward and our application was dealt with really quickly. The team at Savills and Deanfield Homes were so helpful and made the whole buying process as stress free as possible.”

Jo and Graham purchased a three-bedroom semi-detached Hampton and were one of the first to move into the brand new development. Jo continues, “We are so impressed with the quality of our new home. Members of our family are in the building trade and they have commented on how good the quality and workmanship is, and we have been so well looked after by the team at Deanfield Homes.

“Unlike some new homes, we have had so many things included in the purchase price, such as integrated appliances, fitted wardrobes, mirrors, and it’s the smallest things that have really impressed us, such as the quality of the internal doors, we particularly love them. We also really love the stylish bathroom and en-suite.

“Getting to work is also really easy with Graham working in Bourton on the Water for a transport company and myself in Banbury working in marketing for a financial services company, I can also get the train nearby when I need to travel for work so it’s great. We couldn’t be happier with our dream home.’

Deanfield Grove gives us the perfect setting to raise our family

Testimonials

January 13, 2020In Testimonials4 Minutes

December 2019: The pitter patter of tiny feet can often make you readdress where you live and for one couple Catherine and Alistair Chaytor, a semi-detached home on a busy main road in Headington, Oxford with no off road parking just didn’t work with two small children.

Catherine comments, “Alistair and I had bought our home six years ago before having children and it was perfect for our lifestyle and where we worked. But once we had George (4) and Matilda (2) the busy City location, impractical layout and lack of parking started to prove a problem and we had also simply outgrown the house.

“We were really keen to move to a village location and needed a larger home so we started to look around. We weren’t really considering new build homes as an option because we had previously lived in one and also felt the garden would be too small but when my brother told me about a new development, Deanfield Grove in Tackley, where he and his family live we decided to take a look.

“We visited the show home and were really impressed with the quality and the size of the development but were still a little unsure on buying a brand new home. We went away and started looking at more second-hand properties but they were all in the wrong location or needed lots of work doing to them and our thoughts kept coming back to the homes at Deanfield Grove.

“We visited the show home again and realised that it provided us with everything we wanted. We were so impressed with quality of the finishes and the little extras that Deanfield Homes include in the price such as bathroom mirrors and integrated appliances. When we moved into our previous new build home it was just a shell and we needed to add everything. Deanfield Homes really changed our perception on new build homes.

“We fell in love with the four bedroom detached Elstow which is really well designed and laid out internally and perfect for our growing family. There are also four double bedrooms which are all a great size and the quality of the doors and built in wardrobes makes it feel so spacious. The garden is also perfect for what we need for the children and it’s great for them to be able to have some outdoor space.

“We put our house on the market and initially sold it really quickly but unfortunately our buyer’s chain collapsed which was a rather stressful time. Deanfield Homes and Savills were really accommodating and patient with us and allowed us to find another buyer and not lose our home.

“We are really happy here and have already settled into village life and it’s great to have my brother and his family on the doorstep. The development is in the centre of the village which backs onto the school playground and George will be starting there in January at the pre-school. Alistair also walks to the station to get the train to work at the Science Park in Oxford which is so convenient and we are still able to reach Oxford easily if we want to go out at the weekend.”

All homes are now reserved/sold at Deanfield Grove.

Tackley is situated eleven miles north of Oxford and just four miles from the historic town of Woodstock. It also has a mainline railway station with direct trains to and from Oxford and Banbury. At peak times the average journey time to and from Oxford station is just 10 minutes.

We’ve found our dream family home

Testimonials

November 27, 2019In Testimonials6 Minutes

November 2019: Finding the perfect home to raise a family is a big driver for many parents and for Hannah and Nick Brown they couldn’t quite believe it when they found their dream home in Tackley, Oxfordshire.

Hannah explains, “Nick and I had been living in a three bedroom house at the former RAF base in Caversfield, Bicester for six years and were really happy with the area. When Jacob came along, we started to realise that we were limited on living space downstairs with a growing toddler and also lacking any proper storage.

“We started to look around and viewed a number of old and new build homes in the Bicester area but just couldn’t find the home that ticked all the boxes. I had been regularly searching online and Deanfield Homes’ development in Tackley kept appearing, but we had ruled it out as it was not in Bicester. Then one afternoon we decided to take the plunge and go and visit the show home at Deanfield Grove and couldn’t quite believe it when we arrived.

“Nick and I loved the village setting straight away and as soon as we saw the home we quickly realised that it was just perfect for what we wanted. The property offered so much more than we had been looking at and the proportions of the rooms were really generous along with a lovely sized private garden and I instantly fell in love with the kitchen.

“We hadn’t really considered moving away from Bicester but with it only being 20 minutes away, we weighed everything up and realised that we simply couldn’t walk away from this home. Nick also commutes by train regularly and we were delighted to find a village train station just a few minutes’ walk away, as well as a village primary school and convenient local shop.”

Hannah and Nick purchased a three bedroom semi-detached Blenheim at Deanfield Homes’ sought after development, Deanfield Grove in Tackley, Oxfordshire.

Hannah continues, “We were really impressed with the quality of the homes at Deanfield Grove and the attention to detail and high specification throughout. It’s the small touches that really show the quality and care that has gone into the homes, such as each room having its own air circulators and spacious floor to ceiling wardrobes in the bedrooms. Also, with an eighteen month old and a second baby on the way in the Spring, the quality of the carpets is really important for cleaning up any accidental spills! There is also so much storage which is perfect for our growing family.

“Deanfield Homes were also really helpful throughout the whole process. We had a chain which took longer than we hoped but they were so supportive all the way and kept us updated regularly. We were really impressed.

“We are quickly settling into our new home and Jacob and I have already attended the local toddler group where we felt so welcome and Nick’s commute is going really well. We are so happy to have made this move into our first proper family home.”

Just one four bedroom detached home, The Fyfield, remains available at Deanfield Grove, a small niche development of just 26 two, three and four bedroom family homes.
