Luxurious Living in the Oxfordshire Countryside

News
The village of Sibford Ferris, standing on a hilltop surrounded by Oxfordshire countryside, has long been an oasis for those looking for a more relaxed pace of life. The undeniable village charm, breathtaking views, and close-knit community has made it the ideal location for those looking to add some tranquillity into their daily routine.
The villages of Sibford Ferris, Sibford Gower and Burdrop, collectively referred to as the Sibfords, sit either side of the picturesque Sib Valley and offer a rural lifestyle surrounded by the warmth of the local community. A village hall hosts clubs and events, or you can join the community-run pub quiz at the Wykham Arms. With such stunning countryside in all directions, there are numerous walks to explore.
With the first homes at our Deanfield Heights development in the village now released for sale, we take a look at what new residents can look forward to.
Discover a new tipple
In the area surrounding Deanfield Heights there are several regional breweries and distilleries for locals to sample. Nearby is the traditional and award winning Victorian Hook Norton Brewery where visitors can learn about the long history of the brewery, which started operating commercially in 1856.
Also in the area is the Cotswold Distillery, which is one of only a few that produces both English whisky and gin. Working to emphasise the rich agriculture of the Cotswolds, all barley is grown nearby on the Blenheim Estate and local fruits and grains make up the flavour profiles used in the spirits.
Luxuriate at Soho Farmhouse
Less than ten miles away in Chipping Norton is the ultimate sanctuary for pampering, relaxation and that all-important ‘me time’. Soho Farmhouse is an exclusive, members-only hotel and spa hidden in 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside.
Members can enjoy horse-riding, clay-pigeon shooting and tennis in the elegant grounds, as well as the Cowshed spa, gym and Wellness Barn specialising in holistic experiences. It’s the perfect escape from a busy life into the zen of the natural world.
Go Organic at Daylesford Farm
People come from far and wide to visit Daylesford Organic near Moreton-in-Marsh, but for residents of Sibford Ferris it can be a regular day out. The farm has plenty to offer with a beautiful farm shop selling local produce, flowers and homeware, a restaurant, wine stall and a garden and antiques area.
The venue also hosts a cookery school, inspired by what’s in season and growing well on the farm. The culinary team offers a range of courses ranging from ‘Pizza from Scratch’ to ‘Flavours From the Middle East’ and ‘Eat Well, Live Better’. Daylesford Farm is the perfect place to take visiting friends and family who want to experience a real taste of the Cotswolds.
Step back in time at Broughton Castle
Broughton Castle is one of only 20 homes awarded five stars in Simon Jenkins’ England’s Thousand Best Houses. Just a ten-minute drive from Sibford Ferris, the 14th century castle was the centre of the opposition to Charles I. Visitors can explore the rich history, both within the castle itself and throughout the beautiful gardens.
This summer, Broughton Castle is providing the backdrop for a performance of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, where audiences will be transported to the magical Athenian forest.
Enjoy a spot of retail therapy
The Lanes of nearby Banbury are packed with independent retailers offering a range of goods and services from local artwork to artisan food and drink. The streets of the old town are often lined with stalls from local businesses, making the choice to shop local an easy and inviting one.
Banbury is located just over seven miles from Sibford Ferris and trains from the main line station run to Oxford in around 18 minutes and to London Marylebone in just over an hour. There is also regular bus route (line 75) servicing The Sibfords and Banbury, as well as connecting to nearby Stratford-upon-Avon.

Embracing the benefits of a new-build home

News
This week we are celebrating New Homes Week by shining a light on the many benefits of new-build homes. There are many considerations when making the decision to move; perhaps you’re considering moving to a rural location for a more relaxed pace of life, maybe upsizing to accommodate a growing family or finally securing your dream home. Here we explore the significant advantages of opting for a brand new property in the ever-evolving UK housing market.
Enhanced Energy Efficiency
Deanfield Homes properties are built to a high specification, with the fabric of our homes already designed to outperform current building regulations. From the high levels of cavity wall and roof insulation to the double-glazed, thermally efficient windows, your home will not only feel warm in the winter and cooler in the summer but will also be vastly more energy efficient than most older homes. With a new build you could save an average of £184 a month on energy, which equates to a massive £2,200 a year, compared to an older property according to recent studies by the Home Builders Federation.
At Deanfield Homes, all properties now under construction will be heated via air source heat pumps and come with EV charging as standard, enabling you to move to a greener way of living.
Simple buying process
Moving home is known to be a stressful experience as there are many things that can delay or jeopardise a sale. Buying a new-build helps to ease this uncertainty, with no onward chain to manage.
Sales advisors act as a single point of contact, helping to guide buyers through the purchase process and managing relationships with experts such as solicitors and mortgage brokers.
At Deanfield, we offer a free, fully managed assisted sale service to help you sell your existing property more quickly, we will even cover estate agent fees.
Complete peace of mind
One of the joys of buying a new home is that everything is fresh and untouched, so no need for renovation or DIY dramas. With sparkling new kitchens and modern bathrooms, newly installed plumbing and electrics there are no nasty surprises.
And for even greater reassurance, all Deanfield homes come with a 10-year NHBC warranty, we are registered with the New Homes Quality Board, a new Consumer Code, and our Customer Service team are on hand to provide extra peace of mind for two years from completion of purchase.
Uniquely you
You can look forward to being spoilt for choice with new builds. Purchasing off-plan means you can choose a property in the perfect location for you and select from many different house types.
Depending on the build stage of your home at reservation, you can even custom finish your home, from flooring and carpets to kitchen colours, worktop finishes and even door handles.
A community like no other
When you’re moving into a new-build home, you’ll be joining a brand-new community. New developments quickly establish group chats, regular meet ups and community events. Additionally, at Deanfield Homes, we build in village locations with a good range of local amenities nearby, so our homeowners become part of an established wider community.

A New Chapter for David

News
Retiree David Thompson had spent 24 years in his family home in Cheshire, raising his two children Lucy and James with his wife Janet. But when Janet sadly passed away in 2022, he knew it was time to make the move to a more manageable property closer to family.
David was looking for a low-maintenance, energy-efficient home and decided that buying a new-build property would give him the peace of mind he was looking for. But he was reluctant to compromise on character, wanted enough outdoor space to fulfil his passion for gardening and good-sized guest bedrooms for when his son and family visited from America. In the chocolate-box Oxfordshire village of East Hagbourne, David found his dream property with Deanfield Homes.
David comments: “It was a huge decision to move, but with five acres of land, the family home had simply become too much for me to manage. I came down for a weekend and began looking at new properties in villages near to where my daughter lives, but many of them were on large developments that seemed to lack character and a real sense of community.
“Deanfield Green was completely different. The brick-built homes were traditional in design, and had plenty of space and a quality finish. The house I chose was the Dalton, a charming double-fronted property with four bedrooms, two of which have ensuite, a spacious kitchen/diner, handy utility room and a separate study. There’s plenty of space for when I have the family to stay, but it also feels cosy when I’m here on my own.
“Having not moved house for nearly a quarter of a century, I was quite apprehensive, but I used one of the solicitors suggested by Deanfield Homes and everything went really smoothly.”
The village of East Hagbourne has also proved a welcoming community for David, who has already made new friends, is a weekly regular at the village pub and will be joining a local photography club. He is now looking forward to showing off his new home when all the family come together to celebrate Christmas this year.
David concludes: “I’m really happy here. I have a plaque in the hallway that says ‘Home Sweet Home’ – and that is exactly how it feels.”
There is currently a range of two, three and four bedroom homes available at Deanfield Green with prices starting from £349,950. For further information, visit www.deanfieldhomes.co.uk/deanfield-green or call 01865 269010.
